Arthur Barker, known affectionately as Great Grandfather Barker began working in a shop at the bottom of a garden in North Road, Earls Barton. In the early days he made hand sewn boots or shoes but in 1880 he founded a company and opened a factory in Station road where in 1905 his three sons joined him. After several generations of the family, Barker are now owned by an Internacional group who are committed towards maintaining the brand integrity and continue to make in the Earls Barton factory.
